Zetec transplant wiring success

A friend and I did some work on my zetec donor at the weekend in an attempt to rationalise the loom!

Loom as it started in the foreground showing the bulkhead multiplugs for the looms within and outside the car:

Some progress on stripping out the unnecessary (stuff like a feed from the aircon presumerably to raise idle when the compressor is started and so on)

The bags of wiring we removed….

The loom as we left it with OBD plug, Immobiliser transponder and tails to go to the car loom. Ill cut to length and fit a pultiplug to keep the looms modular (just noticed this pic was before we removed the last couple of plugs and shortened the OBD and Immob tails)

This was a 104 wire NOAH coded ecu with an alarm in the loom and a PATS immobiliser and the loom has since been reconnected to the donor car and the engine run up. I didn’t have an obd scanner to check for codes but the engine sounded and revved perfectly happily.

Only 15 hours work!

Nice one.

easier when you have the full car to work with. I had to work back from the ecu.

Yeah I was lucky in having the engine in the car so we removed everything from the engine bay multiplug back to the ecu and alarm before realising the ecu was connected to the engine harness

with it all out on the floor and untaped its quite quick to remove a lot of it and being able to go back to the car and plug it in was a boon

Having a packet of biscuits to hand makes the job alot easier though.
