Exhaust Manifolds...

How important is it to have an exhaust primaries link-pipe for a V-Twin engine?

Does each cylinder need the others 'pulses', or could I just fit each with a primary going straight to a silencer?

Look at the akrapovic website, they make the
best
exhausts going, they're linked.

Cheers Franky... been doing a bit of reading, but as always - there are LOTS of opinions on this one!

Some advocate a dual-exit system for it's simplicity and because it creates an 'equal-picture' for each cylinder.

Others claim that the sonic-waves created by a 'collected' system helps draw out the exhaust gases.

Obviously a dual exit is the easier of the two for me to make... and crucially, a collected system will cost a bit more - is it really worth it?

Must be almost essential on a bike v twin, my 996, sp1+2 and Moroni all have had that set up, I've all the technical stuff somewhere I think it helps create a scavange wave if you think of 2 strokes.

Yep - that makes sense Frankie... don't suppose you have any Y-Pipe collectors lying around that I can fiddle with?

I'll have a look but I don't think so, I've got a full termi system on my morini though so may be able to give you some measurements if you want?
