Hi, Can anyone help? I have a 2.0l pinto in my MK, i cannot find any info that relates to my engine being leaded or unleaded. I have looked in the
usual place for the letters stamped adjacent to spark plug 4 but this is either a 1 or an l, not P, PP, R or RR. The only other info i know is that
the engine number means it was build in 1988 and it has a 205 block.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
double check this information is correct
SOHC Pinto Engines
All engines produced after 01/89 are suitable for use with unleaded fuel. For all other engines, an identification mark (adjacent to No 4 spark plug)
must be present to designate suitability for unleaded. These are:
* 1.6 - M, MM or N, NN
* 1.8 - S, SS
* 2.0 - P, PP or R, RR
so from your post I'd assume rightly or wrongly that it isn't an unleaded head.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable wll be along to clear things up.

My leaded head from an '86 sierra looked like it was stamped 1/l/7 to me, the proper unleaded one I replaced it with was unmistakebly 'R'
