Sanity Check
rallyingden - 14/7/10 at 09:28 PM

I bought my carbs second hand & was told they were off a Pinto and indeed they were on a pinto manifold. Now I'm sure he said they were off a 2.0L.

I am running a 1600 pinto so have just checked what the difference is between the "ideal" jets and whats fitted. I am surprised at the result and it's got me baffled, especially about the choke size !

Ideal settings ( Burton power Etc )

Chokes 34mm
Mains 135
Emulsion F11
Air Cor 190
Pump 35
Idle 40/F9

Fitted

Chokes 30mm
Mains 115
Elulsion F11
Air Cor 200
Pump 40
Idle 45/F9

Am I reading choke size right, I look down intake and see 30 in raised numerals on casting.
Dont mind buying jets but chokes ! HOW MUCH ?

Cheers

Second hand weber's, tut tut !!

Bin them, just like i have, as after 2 engines, totaled, and 10mpg they were not worth jack shite
unreliable, pissed fuel out, never in tune for more than a day,

my 28/36 dcd give just as much power as needed, and 30 mpg

1960's weber technology in 2010 says it all really

fwiw mine were 34mm on a 1700 xflow

I concur with the above, but I love mine too much to change them lol

Like Prawnabie......... I like the noise

Just trying to find out if I need to buy chokes ..... am I reading the size correctly or do you have to take them out to check them ?
