Got my Synchrometer and have set the carbs from number 3 at an indicated 3 1/2 at 800/900 rpm with 12 degrees of advance.
From those that know, am i far off or should they they be flowing higher on this engine?

Surely all you are doing is getting them equal? it doesn't matter what the number is as long as they are more or less the same.

The amount of flow is not the issue, it is to make them read all the same.
It is impossible to have a flow number as a car with a race cam, or big valves and ports will have a lower reading than a standard cam, also idle speed will make a huge difference.
When you start set the RPM a little higher than normal, perhaps 1000-1250RPM, this will give you some sort of reading on the meter. As the carbs balance and speed up slow the RPM down as your meter readings get finer, now slow the RPM to your desired rpm and finish off.

Well quite by accident that is what i did as the carbs were so far out, especially 1, that once id initially set them the revs rose naturally and so i turned them down and did it again.
Thats put my mind at rest. Thanks all
