Just collected my 2.0 zetec. used the guys engine hoist to get in into back of car. got home 20 mins later to find a answer phone message saying my
help cant make it. Now Im stuck with an engine in the back of the wifes car and no way to get it out!
So out can the spanners and 2 hours later lifted just the block out. Bl00dy thing had every possible ancillery attached, pas, ac pump, both manifold,
water pipes, ac pipes, pas pipes. Anyway its now in the garage arleady stipped to begin putting it back together again after painting. Oh what a fun
day......
It was interesting removing my zetec from a punto with a mate of mine. ended up with him stood on the boot lip, lifting it with a strap and me under
him swinging it out.
Then went inside and watched it in fastforward on the CCTV, made a good laugh!
I once drove an Astra around with a 4AGE in the back........for two months !
I had to give in , and buy an engine crane in the end after numerous offers to help evaporated
we placed one on the back seat of an escort cabriolet. God knows how they got it out
When I worked at a garage in Cyprus we had loads of Skylines in so had all sorts of fancy blocks, stored at about 2.5m level on a mezzanine type
thing.
The way they used to go up there was 4 blokes on the bottom lifting them over their heads, and two guys on the top pulling them over.
The way down was much more fun though: used to put 4 tyres on the floor, and push the blocks off the ledge!
One time it did go slightly wrong, after the block bounced up about a metre into the air off a tyre and landed on the concrete floor. Bless those
RB26's, left a crater in the floor lol.
Load of pansy CECers
I got a ST1100 (hardly a light engine) and hoicked it out of the back of the tintop on my own.
5 sessions of osteopathy later I was good as new
Simples.
pick mine up in mates van, opened the door and it fell out !!!
Had one in the back of a fiesta and lifted it out on my own when I got home.
Nearly did my self an injury.
Zetec in the boot and two kits in the back I came down the m62 with the arse on the floor and the headlights pointing sky wards.
Pah, you guys all need to think bigger!
2.9 straight six

me and my dad nearly killed ourselves getting a v8 with all the bits, air con etc into a transit.
should have borrowed a lift.
A mate of mine threw a conrod and knocked a hole in the side of his Dolomite 1300 engin, so we got a replacement at the scrappy. The guy said for us to unbolt it and call him over - he leant in ripped the engine out and stood holding it out in front of him asking "Where do you want it?" Now it may not be the heaviest of engines, but I could just pick it up and waddle up the path straddling it!

twin engine astra
Soft or what?
No engine crane here, I had no option but to manhandle a dressed 3.5 V8 and auto box out the back of mine to restore the handling!
It was lifted in at the other end with a forklift.
Managed it all on me lonesome

Steve

I once bought a crossflow and the bloke i bought it off helped me get it in the car.
Got home and couldn't shift it so ..... got a bloke i worked with to come round for dinner and he 'decided' to help me
My AX GT didnt half take a beating when I had it.
This complete 106 XSI engine was removed by placing a load of old carpet over the boot lip and rolling it out onto an engine trolley. I only wanted it
for the head and pistons so the dented sump and cam cover didnt really matter.
Even more interested was the assembled 205 GTi subframe on the back seat... didnt get any pictures of that though.
