I'm having problems getting my engine and gearbox to fit my chassis.
On the type 9 gear lever there is a black bush half way down, what is it for and do I need it? Also would it matter if I bent the gear lever to some
new angles?
Bush stops vibrations. I think you could remove it. Yes you can bend the lever (common to do in the indy)

I shortened mine by removing the bump and fitting the gearknob in its place - and found the lever too short!
I extended the stick a couple of inches with a sleeve and then found I had enough leverage for an easy shift.
The moral is - don't cut it too short!
Thanks for the advise.
I'll see if I can decide the best way to fit it.
