Carb Body Cleaning
perksy - 25/8/10 at 07:44 PM

Have a pair of Weber 40 DCOE carb's to strip & rebuild for a mate who is building

Any tricks for cleaning up the bodies of the carb's ?

Be good to get a nice finish and have been reading a thread on another forum about using Baking Soda and an Air gun
Which seems to have worked really well

Anybody tried it ?

Cheers

get rid of any black gunge with carb cleaner and a toothbrush before blasting. Soda blasting is very effective, but wear H&S breathing gear.

ALL my engine parts, carbs, etc etc, get stripped, and go in the dishwasher (wifey at work)
never done me any harm

Do you think a dish washer will do a cylinder head?

Also heard about the baking soda but buying inquantity seems to be difficult for me to source locally.

My x/flow block went in my old dishwasher
