need some advice. I obtained a cheap set of ford alloy wheels. everything is ok apart from offset which is 52.5. thinking about spacing it to bring it down to about et 35.
1) must it be hubcentric
2) Anybody had problems with spacers
3) where to get good quality ones from

1) Yes, for that amount of difference

2) Yes, for sure some people have had problems, but usually with non-hubcentric ones . You may need longer studs.

3) I've just sold some... 15mm ones manufactured by FK. I got them from Venom Motorsport - see here

I guess you've got a set of mk1 focus or mk3 mondeo wheels then

try and find hubcentric ones that use long studs
(instead of the ones that use short stuts to bolt the spacer on, and more short studs in the spacer)

I had my own design of 15mm ones made (so I've got drawings if you need them)

Generally speaking you won't get any problems with hubcentric spacers as they act like an extension to the wheel (or hub) and eliminate any possibility of wobbles - unlike the plain spacers. Just make sure you have the correct length wheel studs to enable at least 6 turns on the wheel nuts and you will be fine.

p.s. alloy ones are the best as steel ones can weigh a ton in the larger sizes!
