fuelling problems
Miks15 - 12/9/10 at 04:06 PM

HI Guys,

I have had my engine going before, a couple of times, but this was done by using a gravity feed of fuel for the carbs. Today i fitted the fuel tank and pump, and filter, and i think its over fuelling.

It wont start and its spraying petrol out the carbs. And also the filter doesnt fill right up. its placed under the carbs in a vertical position. Is this a problem, or is it mounting ok?

Anyone got any ideas what the problem could be? Its a 1.6 running gsxr600 carbs and fuel pump.

Cheers

You using the bikes fuel pump? If not then I think you should be as they are designed to stop pumping when they get a bit of back pressure.

Or if its just one carb the float could have stuck and you could try gently tapping the float bowl with a plastic handled screwdriver.

btw my filter doesn't fill right up either.

Cheers

Rich

Clean the float valves

Sounds like the problem we had when trying to run Fireblade carbs with a Facet and Filter King, advice on here was to go with the correct bike pump, we did and the fuelling hasn't played up since.

we are using the same pump as the bike the carbs are off which is why im baffled.

I will check the float valve tonight? WHat should i be looking for? just that they are moving freely?

Also the vacuum sliders (i think?! the black things inside the carbs that slide up and down with a semi circle cut out the bottom) Should these all me moving up and down when cranking over? Because at the minute they arent which is obviously restricting airflow.

Cheers
