Where can I get my Type-9 repaired near London?
Steve Lovelock - 19/9/10 at 08:33 PM

Hi,

My type-9 will often have trouble selecting 2nd when coming from 3rd. However, the rest of its operatiion is fine. As a result I am looking to get it repaired.

I would prefer somebody doing it who will look at the specific problem rather than just flogging me a total recon box. Does anybody know of anybody suitable?

Cheers
Steve

I have a copy of the Haynes book that covers a gearbox rebuild if you want it but if it is a standard box it might be worth thinking about a BGH geartek modified box, one of the best mods I've done to my car.

Have you checked your gear linkage (from the gear stick?) I had the same problem with mine and it turned out to be a cracked weld in the remote linkage setup.

Just a thought!

Steve.

There is a Ford Gearboxes place in Middle Lane, off Priory Road N8. The owner is a, hem hem, mature guy who seems to have been in the business for years. He refurbished my gearbox but I don't know how well as I've not been above 2nd gear yet . I'll tery to make a note of his telephone no and let you know.
