Hi guys,
Think i'm going to change my engine earlier than orginally planned. I'm planning on going from a 1300 xflow with a type 9 5 spd to a
1998ish 2.0 zetec.
I just wanted to check what's on my shopping list to what i actually need...
- Zetec engine
- engine wiring loom and ecu
- exhaust manifold
- key and transponder (if there is one)
- clutch
- release bearing
- fuel tank (mine only has a send pipe, guessing i'll need a return as well, or can i mod my existing one?)
obviously i'll need engine mounts etc as well, but have i missed anything else?
regards,
andy
spiggot bearing, flywheel (lightend or a 1.8 escort)
Im doing similar but opting for bike carbs so no faffing with wiring & security, fuel return lines, just need an inlet manifild making lasercut
cut flanged readily available and a decent set of carbs off anything over 600cc)
Cheers
Rich
Just thought Im already using a megajolt for ign so maynot be quite as easy for you.
Still, quite a few have used the standard stuff in which case your list looks ok appart from the spiggot bearing.

fuel injection pump and swirl pot - you can fit this external to your existing tank. To add a return line there is a push in fitting which a few of us have used (me included - although not actually tested mine yet & can't remember where its from apart from its an aircraft fuel tank part).
Was it this one? Down near the bottom? Linky
Cheers

yep thats the one.
Also, if you want to use standard injection from the mondeo / escort then you'll either end up with a large lump sticking out of your bonnet or
you want a griffin / someone else modified manifold that takes all the ford bits.
that fuel tank fitting looks pretty neat and cheap so that's that sorted!
As for the engine, i was planning on using the standard injection and ecu, as for the manifold was planning on getting a 4-1.
I'm assuming you meant if i use the standard inlet manifold then i'll get a big bulge? i don't see how the standard injection would
cause that?
i think you can also use the rover 220/turbo inlet manifold for the zetec engine but you would need an adaptor
I dont think the turbo inlet is of sufficient size as its designed for forced induction

Use your pump as a lift pump to a swirl pot.
