How effective is heat wrapping in terms of reducing engine running temp and are there any other benefits?
I'm running a 1600xflow in a westfield
Any advice appreciated

It won't make the engine run any cooler, what it will do is stop heat soak back into the engine from it being surrounded by hot air.
I wrapped my exhaust in 2 separate layers of exhaust wrap, proped open the rear of the bonnet 10mm and am now considering Dax like side vents.

It can cause supposedly cause overheating/warping of the cylinder head, as the exhaust side gets hotter

Complicated subject but the whole heat management needs to be considered. Airflow through the engine bay, venting, under car flow, radiator cowling, sealed cold air intake etc. all should be addressed ideally. As for the wrap I've left an inch or so of unwrapped primary at the head to reduce the potential stresses on the flange and fixings for example.
