RWD Plenum - compatability with what?
FASTdan - 23/11/10 at 11:51 AM

Not being an EFI expert I have a couple of further questions on the plenum subject:

1) What standard equipment should a design be based around? ie fuel rail, injectors and throttle body. Can anyone post pictures of their suggestions? I have various bits kicking about but no idea what model/year they are off.

2) Is there a requirement for the cold start valve to be fitted or do most run without this?

I would base it around the zetec bits. Cheap and easy to get. And will come with most new and secondhand engines for free.

Black top injectors and rail would be fine.

Black top Tb is plastic with an O ring style gasket and will be easy mount.

just mounting a stub would be enough to run a remote Idle control valve or could be used for servo brakes in a turbo tintop.

I would like to see the standard black top idle contol valve used as most ecu's will run it and its a much nicer option than a bleed valve or cracking the throttle plate open.

The standard ecu needs to see the total air flow and needs the idle valve to flow through the port in the tb .Again this could be got around if it was to much work.

If you bought a new engine then all the above comes bolted to it. Add your manifold and bin the plastic one, you then just need to control fuel and sparks.

Imho if you make it usable with the standard ecu, there will be a market for them in the fast ford world aswell. Some of the lash ups with the rover manifolds make good money on ebay for the turbo conversions.

You could have the whole market on zetec plenums
