Hi all my 2003 mondeo has just started misfiring on a trip back from the north tonight and the engine managment light has now come on any ideas on what this might be
First i would check ignition coils
What he said^^^
My friend had a 2.0 mondeo with an intermittent miss which was coil packs, I think it cost him £70 ish to do and from what he found was a common
fault. It was quite intermittent though, some days it would be great then others a bit missy and down on power.
EDIT: he had the EM light on too

That's that lovely snow stuff getting under the hood and melting on the electricals and letting the smoke out.
Check the butterflies inlet manifold, there are problems with the secondary ones

I have just stripped a 2.0 duratec to install in my 7 and am going to sell the parts to get some of the engine money back. If you do need any parts then drop me a u2u.
Coil pack failure is very common after a hard frost.
thanks all for your help, wife took it to a garage today and you were right coil pack shot once again many thanks to you all
