carbon fibre intake manifold?
blakep82 - 7/1/11 at 07:15 PM

can it work?

i mean a manifold for carbs, not just an airbox with runners, but the fuel air mix will go through it.

Yes it will you just have to use the fancy epoxy resin that's resistant to petrol.

matt_gsxr - 7/1/11 at 07:27 PM

like this?

Probably a bit extravagant on the Pinto though.

big_wasa - 7/1/11 at 07:38 PM

I wish I had the skill and tools to make that.......

Benzo - 7/1/11 at 07:43 PM

a plenum?

blakep82 - 7/1/11 at 08:00 PM

the one in the photo is just for a injection engine right?

nope, i mean one that goes between the engine and the carbs

i need one made, i've got a sort of working template one, but its made of steel, and is going a bit rusty inside, plus its got all sorts of pockets inside where liquid fuel can gather and get trapped, which i don't like

Got to admit, i saw that and nearly made a mess of my shorts!

theduck - 7/1/11 at 08:55 PM

Yes you can. Streamline carbon would be able to do this for you.

Oh and the one pictured is for a Honda B16C or B18 isnt it?

http://streamlinecarbon.com/ will be able to do it, the intricases of there work are phenomnal, and all done in pre-preg carbon, no wet lay here!

eddie99 - 7/1/11 at 09:11 PM

Lol, You carbon junkies make me laugh!

matt_gsxr - 7/1/11 at 09:15 PM

No reason why it isn't possible.

Lots or reasons why it isn't sensible.

Have you considered remaking it in stainless, or aluminium.

blakep82 - 7/1/11 at 09:18 PM

sesible is going to a show room and buying a car, surely?
yeah, thinking about aluminium, but, you know...
