I took the car out yesterday for a long run, had done about 120 miles and then part filled the car up again on the way home to ensure that I got home
with enough fuel. We got caught in the downpour yesterday and about 20 miles from home I filled up again to ensure that I had enough fuel to get
home.
About 5 miles from the house, the engine "felt wierd" it did not want to pull away in gear and it sounded like pinking.
I managed to keep it running and got home. When I got home, the engine will tick over and rev like normal (it was pissing down proper by this time,
so I did not want to take it out again).
havng never experienced anything like this - any ideas?
cheers
Craig

is that big scoop leting water get into your filter ?
thuderace, I did notice some water around the filter (ie the filter was holding a little water scoop end of the filter) but I have been out in worse
rain before, and never experienced this.
cheers

My MR2 turbo did something very similar when the plugs got wet and the ignition went all weird.
Water injection prevents knock, so damp air should not be a problem.
A bad batch of fuel can cause it, just add some 98 octane.
Check you spark timing, too advanced will cause knock.
i.e. Spark fires to early, peak cylinder pressure is reached before the piston hits TDC.
