VW Alternator Pulley Removal Tool
Ben_Copeland - 5/3/11 at 06:01 PM

I've got to replace the alternator pulley on my wifes Galaxy. Its a VW engine and i've been to VW and got the new one etc...

But you need a special tool to remove it, 2 multi splined tools one inside the other to undo it.

Anyone got one i can borrow? or know of a way without the tool?

any pics of the set up, generally these special tools can be overcome

No, no pictures of the setup as i've put it all back together again for the moment..

Its a 10mm splined shaft in the center, that you need to hold still, while you wind the much larger splined pulley off it.

I tried holding the pulley in a soft jawed vice and turning the centre but its miles too tight

Sealey SX400 normally available for about £20, sorry I can't help with one to borrow.
