Zx9r b1 carbs on a zetec?
rich201283 - 11/3/11 at 05:11 PM

I have zx9r b1 carbs for my zetec,I have got hold of a kawasaki manual and it says the main jets on the bike should be 200.

Which size jets will i need for a 2ltr zetec?

Rough guess 1.5

There is a lot to consider, air box, size of the carbs, engine itself, but I think 1.5mm wont be too far away.

I have put 165 jets in and it is bogging down badly when revved - On the later zx9r carbs everyone seem to be going up a couple of sizes in jets.

If i put the choke on it will rev up which made me think i need to go up a couple of sizes from the 200 due to been early carbs

I'm on 1.4mm on my 2l zetec, I went up at first and got the same symptoms as you then decided to use my brain and try the afr meter I bought a few years back and soon found I was miles too large, went to 1.3mm and then upto 1.4mm and now she's perfect at wot

Plugs, black and sooty? Bet they are Also try with no air filter on too...

Cheers

I have 1.7mm jets my carbs are zx9r / E carbs and they are fitted to a 2.1 pinto
if it was me doing your conversion i would start with 1.6 mm jets and work up in 0 .5 sizes

I have b1's on my 1.8 zetec. they have 1.55 main jets and standard needle height. Revs a treat. What ign map you running? Also are the diaphragms for the top covers sealed correctly.
How many turns out are your pilot screws? That will also affect it. Bogg bros say 3 turns out. Mine are 2 as it ran better.

For what it costs I would treat it to a rolling road session. Any diy mods are only guesswork. Cost me £200 and worth
it for difference it made.

I have no air filter on at the moment, the mains are 165, and 1 1/2 turns on the pilot screw, Standard needle height, I have check and greased the diaframs and they seem ok.

I will eventually take it the bogg brothers to get it rolling roaded but just want to get it through the mot first.
