Well I have not really tried that hard!
Hi all.
Working on the car to day and I have finally got round to taking my sump off so I can make and fit a baffled one. As I expected I have undone all of
the bolts but the instant gasket is holding on. I dont want to prise it off or it wount be a good refit. Heat probably wont work and its a bit tight
down there anyway.
Any ideas please put on a postcard!!
Thanks in advance,
Biz

Hmm rubber mallet. Ill give it a go.

If you can get hold of a section of 1" wide hacksaw blade (machine type) and grind an edge on the end and side they make a very good tool for that sort of job as well as being one of the best gasket scrapers going. Try to cut through as much of the instant gasket as possible before using a hammer to reduce damage to sump.
Rubber mallet is a massive no go. I have not dented my sump but its certainly not loosening up!
There is no real access to get a blade in unless its very bendy in which case ot will be no good.
I cant get a blade in due to the lack of space.
Any other thoughts?
Cheers

A rubber mallet will be usless, you need a rubber hammer! - a mallet has no weight in it
Speedbump?? When I did mine I bought one off ebay, had that baffled and then swapped them so that I could keep it clean while it was off. Then just sold the old one, think I made more than I bought the replacement too if I remember correctly.
