If its anything like the silvertop a steel plate is required around 4mm thick to lok the cams a tdc a lage spanner 1" or adjustable if I recal to hold the cam and a star drive ? Torx for the front pulley. The cap bolts are etorx then a torque wrench

There not much more than a tenner. You can set the cams with any 5mm plate but you need the pin for the crank as there are no timming marks on the black top.

I did mine with a piece of 5mm flat steel bar and some Tipex.
Get it to TDC and slot the bar in the cut outs on the cams.
Put the car in gear, that should stop the engine turning.
BEFORE you slacken off the tensioners use the Tipex to mark the cam pulley and block to show TDC then you can check if anything moves.
Slacken tensioners, belt off, belt on, tighten tensioners, check timing marks to make sure all is OK, bar out, cam cover back on.
Job done

For the cost these do make the job much easier, well worth a tenner IMO, I sold mine on when I got rid of the zetec powered car, cost me about £3 in the long run.

One tip, do not tighten the cam pulleys up against the bar, use a holding tool on them, you can split the cams.

also paid for the kit above, imho its not really worth not spending the money, sometimes the right tool for the job is the best way

Do a search - there was another thread on this subject recently (I posted on it).
