apologies for starting this thread again but does anyone else know how to fit the oil pick up supplied with the scholare sump? they did tell me on the phone that dependant on the age of the engine it can be 'tricky' My zetec is 1999 and the pick up doesnt just bolt on.....

my zetec is a 1998 model . didn't have any issues . Don't forgot a new gasket between pickup and block. A slight wiggle of the sump was needed to line in up correctly.

just had a look at your blog. Can you not widen the slot on oil pipe pipe so you can bolt it on?

Hammy, I had this issue with my scholar sump. my engine is a 2000 reg blacktop. Easy when you know how.

1. bolt down windage tray
2. lightly bolt down pipe leaving 2-4mm space between faces
3. GENTLY pull the pipe round and drop it over the third mounting point. You will need to bend it, but go slow so you dont break it. it does meed to come round a fair bit, but the steel is quite soft.
4. nip up tight on everything. make sure you have a good tight seal at the faces.

It feels wrong whilst you are doing it, but it works. I have 85-90psi oil pressure all day long.
