As per the title, I'm trying to decide on which to go for...

Bonnet exit is simple to do, easier for trimming panel but weakens bonnet.

Side Panel exit is harder to do, harder to trim panel but doesn't weaken anything. Plus i prefer the look of it.

Anyone got any decent pictures of side panel exit and a vauxhall 16v engine? Or similar so I can work out the bends.

is the manifold on the near side or off side? on my f20c install i had to go over the top chassis rail and out of the bonnet to clear the steering shaft

Nearside so nothings there except diagonal tube in chassis

have you looked at some on wscc? seems to be a few westys on there with xe engines.

prefer the side panel myself think its a cleaner look, I have one 2 1/2" pipe exiting the side

I've tried wscc but with not a lot of luck.

My primaries will be too long for just a single pipe exit, will have to be all 4 coming out :/

Mine goes through the side panel, i found the westfield manifolds are like that and got one on ebay, might be a deciding factor if your looking to save a few quid. Also less for mr IVA to burn himself on if they tighten up on that rule. Had to move the chassis diagonal a bit on mine, but thats totally dependant on yourengine position/height. Mine is over the top.... much prefer the side panel. But my exhaust was cheap!

Well I'm planning to make my exhaust anyway, so I have a choice which way it goes.

I've taken measurements from the engine to side panel etc.

With a bit of luck I can get the exhaust to s bend down and clump up, so it exits above the diagonal between that and the footwell section.

I've seen neds, but it's over the top and not my cup of tea

I exited through panel on nearside for looks mainly. As said harder to do but looks better. I have pics in my archive. Can get dimensions for a Zetec exhaust if any help?

Mine is over the Top on on the Indy, Found that it was going to be to hard to bend all four and then come out the side lower, Would have liked to but not practical.

I had martin keanean make mine to go over the top rail, was thinking it would be easy to change the bonnet than a side panel, if i decide to change the engine to a (bec)

I have got an over chassiss exhaust. I think it looks better but thats just opinion. Nice and free flowing too which is nice and gets the heat out ASAP.

Emailed you a pic of mines ( c20 Xe) if you need more then give me a shout. Side panel exit and a westfield exhaust manifold. A bit restrictive but the cars way fast enough as it is for me.
