Hello All,
I am trying to figure out the finer details of the ZX12's gear selector switch (mines an A1 model).
The ZX12 has what looked like a rotary switch to ground built into the gear box, and i am trying to come up with a solution to convert this into a
single analogue feed to my dash (ie 1v for 1st gear, 2v for second ect).
Looking at the service manual, it looked like it was just a simple switch to ground, grounding one of 7 pins depending on what gear i am in. Closer
inspection indicates that there's something else going on,does anyone know any detail ?
The problem i have is that without the car moving, its impossible to get the engine into any gear other than neutral and first.
Currently the Neutral wire (Light Green) goes to <1v when in gear, and then 12v when 1st gear gets selected. Interestingly, the 1st gear wire
(Green/red) remains at 5v, as do all of the other wires.
Can anyone help me out understanding what wire does what as you go up through the gears ?
Cheers and Thanks
Tris
try a google search for the kawasaki positive neutral finder

Thanks for all the replies - i was right initially when i thought it was a straight rotary switch to ground - after just taking mine out of the engine
it looks like its worn and some contacts are no longer working.
Hay ho, will try and find a replacement and give it another go
Cheers
