
Hi - just a quickie!
Due to some re-locating needed under the hood of my F27, I need to run the upper outlet from the engine water cooling into the lower inlet of the Rad,
and the lower outlet from the engine into the upper inlet from the Rad. (obviously)
I assume that you normally go top to top and bottom to bottom, but I have asked around and had a few opinions that it doesnt make a difference which
way round it goes.
Anyone agree disagree??

Hot Water comes out of the top of the engine goes into the top of the radiator.
Cooled water comes out the bottom of the rad and straight into the water pump.
Think it has its roots in the days when the cooling system relied on convection currents and not pumps i.e. hot water rises and cold water falls.
So Hot in the top of the rad cold out the bottom. Hotest water out of the top of the engine cool water in at the bottom.
Cant see that it matters when there is a pump involved
A couple of engine designs have the coolant pump delivering cooled water from the bottom of the rad to the top of the engine for emission's and fuel economy reasons but these rare exceptions haven't been 100% successful.
Biggest problem will be the pump sucking air from the top of the rad, you will need a header tank with air bleed from the highest point running over the engine.

The water pump will be working against the normal flow of water due to the hydrosyphon effect so not the most efficient way of cooling the engine , also the pump will take more power to operate it .IMHO
Plus there may be problems when the engine (and therefore water pump) are switched off. In a normal system water will continue to circulate but in yours it won't. And do not underestimate how important that might be, you may get localised boiling in the head.
