The MK has not turned a wheel in anger for a few months and has just been push in and out of the garage while doing some small jobs etc.
So with the enigne coming out hopefully next week for the engine change, I thought I would just turn it round in the back yard. The engine starts and
runs perfect, but I can't enagage a gear. If I put gentle pressure on the gear lever (with clutch pedal pressed), the car very gently starts to
creep forward. I tried reverse and it "jumped" in and started reversing, with clutch pressed - quickly knocked it back into neutral.
Without the engine running it will go into gear.
I am hoping that with a few months of non-use it is something like a "sticking clutch" and nothing more serious.
Andy ideas ?
Yep sounds like a sticking clutch
Try putting it in first gear then press the clutch and get someone to rock the car back and forward don't start the engine

Put it in gear , hold your foot on the clutch then start car and as you drive along keep stamping on the brakes untill the cluch frees it's
self.
Obviously you will require a bit of space to do it this way, and a large pair of nuts.
