Asking on behalf of a mate, what cat would you recommend, small size and preferably both ends swaged, I don't have one so have not knowledge of these things.

His exhaust tubing is 50.8mm ish

Hi Rich,
I got one made up as part of the exhaust can, but i don't run a lambda sensor. Tony Banks Exhausts at Leeds did it , he charged about £120.00 cash. He used a sports cat, but does them in all shapes and sizes, mine was built the same size as the original can i got from MK.
