Brain freeze on my bike carbs

Hi,
Can someone confirm my thinking please... On my bike carbs there is 3 grooves to adjust the needle height, (I have done a search but couldn't find the answere) will these change the mixture under mid range running if adjusted and if so is the top one (Farthest away from the needle) the leanest setting and the lowest one the richest. I only think this as it seems logical that the higher the needle the more fuel.

Hope someone can clarify as I think that I have thought too much into it and my brain has seized.

Yep, mid range and top one is leaner and bottom groove is richer.

I thought that raising the tapered needle would increase fueling in the mid range making it run richer!

And if you put it in the bottom groove you will be raising the needle as stated above. Not only your brain froze Gary

That is the case as coozer says if you put the C clip in the bottom grove it raises the needle making it richer in top grove its lowered and leaner
