Right, Im about to fit the type 9 to my 2.0 blacktop zetec. Ive been told that I need the spigot bearing which Ive got. Im using the standard 2.0 flywheel and clutch.

Ive seen on a few posts with some contradicting info on release bearings.


So, 2.0 blacktop with 2.0 flywheel and clutch. I have a CCT133 release bearing. Is this correct bearing?

Have a look at www.zetec-cat.co.uk , there is lots of useful information on there about the zetec fitment and it covers your issue. I have a zetec with a silver top but I use a different release bearing from a Ford Transit.

Have you tried the type 9 over the flywheel yet?

2l flywheel is a lot thicker than the 1.8 so its a point of try it and see if it fits. Fit it all together and see where the clutch release arm sits.. is there enough travel to disengage?

The flywheel fits inside the type 9 with about 10mm all round so plenty. Going to fit both types of release bearing and see which fits and works best.

please update this thread when you do - i'll be at this point in about, errr, 6 years at my current rate of progress

Just fitted and the gearbox it goes straight on ( you must fit the spigot bearing in the crank as it holds the output shaft perfectly) , just trail fitted so I can work out how many and what size bolts then I will sort release bearing and post back!!

you do have the correct bearing, the 2 litre flywheel does fit it is heavier than the 1.8 on by a fair amount. The standard sierra bearing can be used but will run out of travel before the clutch plate requires changing. I ran my 1.8 for 3 years with the standard sierra bearing then changed to the Capri one following an engine swap

any idea's how I actually get the old release bearing out, cant get the pin out the clutch arm!!

it slides into the arm use a long screwdriver or pry bar

Ok going to get the arm off tomorrow and fit new release bearing. Although I seem to have conflicting info as to which bearing is actually the right one. I have a new CCT133 can some one confirm if this is actually right or not!
