Todays Progress
AndyW - 21/6/11 at 05:15 PM

Had a day off so spent a liitle time in the garage which was nice. So we started off with this:

Then after a short time we had this:

Im well chuffed now the engine and box are in. I can really see progress now, so just added a few things like coil pack, thermostat housing etc.

Just need to get cracking with the wiring and injection system. All in all a good day

Edited to say aBIG THANK YOU to Harvey (carpmart for the loan of his engine crane)

Looking good. better still when it goes brum brum.

GRRR - 21/6/11 at 05:30 PM

Nice work, and a satisfying milestone to reach. Engine looks good sitting there all bare, now to make a mess of it with pipes, hoses and wiring!

Did that piece of carpet make its way to the garage cause someone tried to iron it??! (last pic, under the side panel)

AndyW - 21/6/11 at 05:41 PM

Well spotted GRRR, it was the wife's uncle's brother's wife's rug, and yes it got ironed!!! Once the car is finished I've got my parents old lounge carpet waiting to go in. Luxury all round.....

what are them flexi black/red pipe/hoses.. are they fuel?

It's nice when a big part goes in

AndyW - 21/6/11 at 06:31 PM

The red and black are feed and return pipes for the fuel, thats not the final position, now the engines in I can route them properly. They are a pvc tubing which is made for fuel, marked up on pipe and data sheet from manufacturer.

very nice your garage looks almost ready to do surgery in! mine looks like the local tip, and over the last 2 hours, i've taken most of the front of mine apart, and lost a load of brake fluid all over my floor. an untightened banjo bolt (not even finger tight.. should have checked) leaking sounds exactly like the rain outside

is there any fittings that have to go in the ends of the fuel lines? metal or anything? more photos of the fuel lines going together would be welcome

AndyW - 21/6/11 at 07:51 PM

There are metal inserts supplied with them, they puch in the ends and allow you to do up a hose clip. GBSC do them, thats where I got mine. Im doing the fuel lines around the tank in the week so will post up picks then.

Looking good that. I need some motivation to finish mine

AndyW - 21/6/11 at 08:10 PM

Its given me a good boost to get going! Just need the inlet plenam from GBS and away I go with the wiring, along with some expert help from Big_wasa!!

Also had a brain wave today that Im going to vinyl wrap it in matt black which should go nice with the orange GRP

femster87 - 21/6/11 at 08:14 PM

haha, I have had exactly the same brain wave, only problem is I have to disassemble the entire front suspension to be able to get it wrapped properly. And I dont feel like.

This is where I am stuck at:

hoping to get it done before summer is over.

Looks good Andy, a definite milestone whent he motor goes in

Not being familir with the Zero chasis, is it longer than other 7's - there looks a lot of space in front of the motor (maybe you've got it further back than usual?)?
