Knackered thread - engineers in Basildon?
GRRR - 27/6/11 at 07:44 AM

I've gone and messed up a thread in my clutch slave cylinder, thinks it's an M10x1, does anyone know where would be able to re-tap this in Basildon or surrounding area?

One setback after another...

Thanks
Nick

i can weld ali and have an m10 x1 tap if you get desperate. may be easier to go onto the omega forum and ask if anyone has a dead cylinder and swap the housings over.

Any local machine shop/engineers will re-tap.

Thanks for the replies, we don't seem to have an abundance of machine shops round here. Went for an M10 tap set off ebay in the end, hurry up mr postie!

did you get this sorted ? if the thread has gone oversized ive had good results with helicoils

like this http:/ /cgi.ebay.co.uk/M10-X-1-5MM-THREAD-REPAIR-KIT-HELICOIL-TYPE-/180682841768?pt=UK_DIY_Material_Nails_Fixing_MJ&hash=item2a11895ea8

Fast yes thanks I got a 3 piece tap set for 8.95 delivered, quality seems fine and it had no problem cutting the ally thread. All tidied up and back together now.
