Has anyone had a mechanical speedo serviced & calibrated. Speedy cables which i heard of others using want £55 (plus vat and postage) which
appears to be about the going rate. Mine works ok, when the cables in the gearbox (another thread) but nods a bit and reads a bit out, presumably due
to a change in tyre size at some point.
Just wondering, given how far its out (not much) is it worth it, and how good should it be, is a bit of nodding expected anyway or will it come back
perfect?
Lead time is about 20 days, which is cutting it a little tight for my holiday.
Does anyone know anyone/anywhere cheaper or faster?
Daniel
Yes, I've had 2 done at JDO instruments, and about to send him another, came back almost by return post, very quick service.
All the info you need is on his website

How much did it cost to get recalibrated ?
steve
Can't remember exactly Steve, approx £50, for a calibrate and service, it was 2 years ago, so prices may have changed.

Sometimes the nodding can be caused by the speedo cable rather than the clock. Make sure there are no tight bends and try to keep the cable as straight as possable, remove the cable and give it a good clean, I find running parafin through it and then lubricating with a thin oil, something like 3 in 1.
