Blanking PCV - Zetec
jeffw - 12/7/11 at 08:05 AM

I have a blacktop Zetec in the Phoenix and I have a PCV valve under the exhaust which has a hose back to an oil catch tank. I have bought a blanking plate but I wonder what the pros & cons of blanking this off are....Any thoughts ?

As far as I know, you only blank it off if you fit a dry sump kit, otherwise you will allow pressure to build in the crankcase and cause internal damage.

I had a discussion with Dunnells about this when I was running a Zetec - they recommended just blanking it and using the cam cover breather.

They are experts on these engines so I went with their advice.

Another point of view is that I removed the valve itself fromthe end of the hose and the ran the line into my catch tank, I've this aswell as the crank breather.
