Repacking Silencer
Tiger Super Six - 1/8/11 at 08:41 AM

Strange question maybe, but I have no idea how to repack my silencer.

Any one got any tips on how to do this, or where to buy the packing from and what type?

I assume that I take one of the end cans off and then just push the packing in?

Mark.

It does not need to be shoved in hard, just gently packed in around the perforated tube.

I got a big bag of stuff off ebay a few years ago, some kind of fibre glass strands that has lasted very well, if you want easy then you can buy packing already set up around a cardboard roll, you just tell the supplier the inside diameter of the can and perforated tube size and they will sell you this that you just slip in.

As above acoustafil brilliant stuff and it doesn't blow out as quickly as the fiber strand glass stuff!

Easy to put in too just wrap it around the perforated pipe put it all back together then go for a drive, the thread holding the matting together melts and the stuff expands to fill the can job done!
