Rover V8 with 4 speed ZF auto...
There are LOTS of wires coming off the box and I'm wondering what they all do... I know there will be lockout switches and sensors for bits and
bobs, speedo etc BUT.. if a MS the engine and do away with most of the box wiring will it work still?
In other words does the box need electric and signal s etc for it to work, or will it still go up and down without???
Ta,
Steve
would some of the wiring have anything to do with the kickdown function ? on older cars with carbs there was a linkage for this. On of the wires will probably be an isolator for the starter to prevent starting it in gear then there will be the revers output, lighting for the gear change display
Later zf 4speed auto's from p38 range rovers and beyond will pose a challenge as they are controlled by an ECU, I suggest you source one from a
classic range rover, these have none of these complexities, just a kick down cable, you can ignore all the other wires as these show slection choice
etc.
Regards Mark
Cheers, yep mine is from a classic and has a cable for the kick down.
Been searching on google and come across some Q's on landy and rangy forums. Look just to be wires for lockout, reverse lights, speedo etc
Your sorted then.... by fiddling with the kick down you can make it hang on to gears longer, these change faster than you can by hand
