Making MT75 Cosworth 4x4 G/box to 2wd Hybrid

Hi all, i was just wondering if anyone has done the above. I have a MT75 2wd gearbox out of a DOHC Sierra but im putting a YB Cosworth engine in my kit.......... so i understand you can make whats called a Hybrid using a Cosworth 4x4 MT75 box and a 2wd MT75. Is this quite a simple job? Has anyone done it?

Also this is a bit of a noobish question, but can the engine & box go in a Westie as a whole?

Personally i would use the t5 box for a 2wd install.
will the cossie flywheel go in the mt75 bellhousing? and will the box be up to the job?

Yeah the fly wheel would fit the 4x4 MT75 front of the box, thats how they come out of the factory. Std 4x4 flywheel and clutch should do the trick.

Because there is no changable bell housing i understand that the transfer box etc on the back of the box can be changed with one from a rwd DOHC making the Cosworth 4x4 MT75 box rwd. So yes it should be strong enough and would then mate straigh up to the engine.

Hi, thats exactly, (well nearly), what I have in my car, BUT, the 2WD box from the DOHC is not as strong and has got crap ratios, you idealy need to get the diesel MT75 which will take the hammer, and has better ratios. If you log into
Ford Power you will find a post that shows how to strip, and rebuild the hybrid. HTH Ray

Ive just been told that i can use the gears from the cossy box. Now it sounds like its getting complicated!
