Which ECU?
Cozza - 30/8/11 at 08:58 PM

I've got a part-built kit with a red top but without an ecu. How do I know which one I need? It's got a dispac on it but I don't know which Vauxhall the engine came out of.
Thanks

Are you running original injection or carbs/throttle bodies?

If the first you could get a ECU M2.8 from a later Astra gsi

if second, most aftermarket ecus might be ok... Megasqurt/jolt. once again depends if carbs or tbs?

Thanks. Is that the only one that will work?

go with whatever stock was to begin with. Once you start using aftermarket ECU's, you have more in that than your engine. I know I do.

Yes if you have stock engine with original injection then that's the ecu. The earlier ecu worked with distributor.

OK. Thanks very much!

What about an ecu from a Cavalier GSi?

All of the distributor-less C20XEs would have been fitted with a cat and oxygen sensor wouldn't they? Can you run them with this disconnected without it throwing error codes and possibly limp home mode?

If he;s IVA'ing it, he'll probably need cat and lambda anyway

I've got a cat already - in the custom made exhaust. Where in the system should the lambda sensor go?

Just after the last collector, before the CAT
