rs2000 bellhousing Release bearing part number
Xtreme Kermit - 21/10/11 at 08:15 PM

Good evening all.

I'm lining up my winter projects and this year I might actually get round to fitting the RS2000 ally sump and bellhousing I have had in the garage for a couple of years.

I have:
Sump
Sump Bolts
Bellhousing
Release arm

I figure I need:
longer bolts for the top of the bellhousing
New clutch cover
New clutch plate
New release bearing

Can anyone help with a part number for the release bearing for a pinto -> RS2000 alloy bellhousing -> Type 9

I used a standard Sierra clutch including thrust bearing when I fitted my RS2000 bell housing to a type 9 attached to a Xflow

Maybe I'm worrying about nothing on that front then.

I've been doing a lot of searching and found lots of info on zetec to rs2000 with alloy bellhousings using different release bearings and thought I needed a different one to match the rs2000 release arm.

Yep standard release bearing
RS2000 clutch arm

Sometimes when fitting to the Zetec depending on what flywheel clutch comb you have the longer QH133 is needed

That'd be where I saw it then.

Cheers guys!

Zetec motor, RS 2000 alloy bellhousing, steel flywheel, pinto type clutch and standard release bearing been, fine for 10 years.

One word of warning, you must use the original type of release arm, the one used in the type 9 cast iron bellhousing is too wide and will not fully release. Some grind away the bellhousing webs and bits off the arm but surely that weakens both parts. The part is available but not cheap, I was lucky 10 years ago, found one in a puddle at the local Cortina breakers, early 2 litre Cortinas used the narrow release arm aparantly.

Didn't use longer bolts when I changed from Iron to Alloy.

I picked one up at Stafford this year for £15. Marked as for use on RS2000.

It is stamped ford and has a part number of 69EB-7541-DA

I have done some searches and the profile matches the RS2000 one in some threads i found.

Fingers crossed it is the correct one...

The correct one should be shaped like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clutch-Fork-Ford-RS2000-alloy-bellhousing-/150679058531?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item23152bf863 if its shaped like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140614373473?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT you have the wrong one. Its pretty obvious, the only other one is for the V6/T5 Cosworth and its like neither.

Here is mine - looks similar to my eyes...

What do you reckon?

Looks OK to me.

Except for one small problem. I have just tried it in the belhousing and it looks like it is too long. Sitting on the pivot, the other end fouls the side of the casting.

Disappointed

I think I will order one from burton to make sure I get the right one and see what the differences are.

My bellhousing has a hole cut in the redundant starter housing to get round this issue, it was there when I bought the bellhousing plus it makes putting the clutch cable on the end of the lever much easier, would be a bit of a nightmare otherwise. How long is your lever from end to end, can confirm later today the size of my lever.

One other item no one has mentioned (including me) is a support for the clutch cable which needs to be bolted onto the redundant starter housing. Simple enough to make, bit of stout plate with 4 holes. Off the peg solutions are available but are expensive.

Cheers Paul, mine is 12.5 inches end to end.

The RS2000 sump I have has a panel on the rear with a hole in for the clutch cable to go through, so this should be ok.

Just measured mine but its a bit difficult at present, thought it was 11 3/4 but now I have seen your measurements I want to check again, unfortunately I won't be going to the car till later in the week. A call to Butons should confirm but having thought about it a bit more the end of the lever should not catch, pretty sure mine has only been cut for access.

1/4" would make all the difference I think.

I'll give burton a shout.

Many thanks.
