Difference between Cosworth 4x4 & 2wd bottom end
DixieTheKid - 25/10/11 at 10:30 AM

Greatings chaps,

Can anyone tell me the difference's between a 4x4 & 2wd bottom end?

I know the sumps, water pumps & oil pumps are different but what about the internals! Is it just the pistons & pickup?

Cheers Chris

the 4x4's had '200' blocks, they are even heavier and stronger than the 205 blocks
(not to be confused with the old '20' pinto blocks)

I think the pistons are slightly different in that the CR and valve cut outs etc. were done to suit the slightly different 4x4 heads

conrods I'm fairly sure are the same as is the crank

the difference in the oil pump is basicaly just the cap doesn't have the feed for the spray bar (I think the spray jets are on the block instead of the pickup pipe)

thats the basics, I'll add to it if I think of more...
