If you can find one a distributor frm a Valencia engined Escort is a popular conversion, get the small wiring loom , connectors and the coil. Just need 3wires connecting

Heard good things about pertronix when I was investigating the same for my 1690 xflow, although I bought one (and coil) I never did get to try it out as I swapped to a SAAB lump instead, the reviews were favourable though

I have the Petronix on my 1300 and love it. I was used to doing the timing every few months and now I just do it for practice. It is always spot on!!! Russ

If you use the Valencie distributor, remove the small module from the side of the unit, clean the faces and then refit using heat conducting compound. I got some from an electronics service engineer. The faces have a habit of oxidising causing problems with preventing the transfer of heat from the module to the distributor body.
