propshaft fitting

Hi All
prop is now fitted and all bolted up BUT another problem ,
I just happenedd to put a spirit level on the shaft and i am out approx 5mm back to front.
on the bottom of the gearbox there is a big bolt that the rubber housing slots into and then you bolt it down to keep it tight ,Is there any way of trying to take out the 5mm run or what should i do ,I have tried to use this bolt but no it is just to keep the gearbox firm to the car.

What do you mean, you dont want it level, if its got universal joints on you need a bit of angle to prevent premature wear of the UJ's.

Have I misunderstood?

Cheers

On cars with live axles you got a lot more that 5mm deue to suspension travel and even a bit of sideways movement when you rolled during cornering. With a fixed diff the only movement you get is a small amount due to mounting rubbers in the engine, box and diff. That's why UJ's or rubber joints are fitted to either end.
