Right then, just bought a dirt cheap 56 plate Doblo with a 1.9 JTD engine.. its goosed... goosed in that it drives like its in limp home mode,
struggles up the hills with no revs or boost.
So, its a common rail injector ruled by electronics. I want to know how to defeat the electronics, get the thing boosting and off... is a OBDII reader
the first thing?????
ANY EXPERIENCE, ADVICE ETC?????????????
Steve
Lift the plastic engine cover off, look down by glow plugs there is a linkage rail Plastic ball sockets wear and rod falls of,in most cases the butterfly flaps in manifold get coked up so sticking/jamming linkage adds to wear etc. mostly have to replace manifold, egr valve and do a dpf filter regeneration. but code read would be good if you can.

need to see what the problem is so OBD reader should tell you. Have yo checked the turbo pipes etc you may have a split pipe
Get to know as much as you can about them Cooz 'cos I'm looking at them for later in the year and I don't want to be left in the dark. Can you take the ramps out of the back and refit seats if they have been wheelchair modified ? Turbo seals and boost sensor seem to be likely candidates for the symptoms displayed according to fiatforum.com.
Not much help, but Alfa / VX / Saab engine is the same so there must be loads of info out there
these engines suffer from MAF, EGR, and boost leaks, blocked or stuck EGR is the most common cause of your problem.
Cleaning them is fairly simple, but often its only a short term fix.
Ta, first look shows some muppet has taken a few bots off and lost some of the bolts. Inlet elbow is only held on with one bolt, engine cover bolts
finger tight, rad mounting bolts missing. I know these may not be the fault but obviuosly whoever did it didnt have clue!
I'll be looking to see if the inlet manifold is blocked with soot and will make a plate to block the egr, check the boost sensor isnt coked up
and check for leaks.. The pipe up to the inlet manifold is caked with oil and crap on the outside so I'll check that as well.
AQny more advise would be much appreciated. I've registered on the fiat forum but theres so many tales of whoe that its hard to find a specific
fault.
Is the a way with the obd reader to force start the regenaration process??
Steve
FiatEcuScan is a fiat/alfa specific odb tool that works with a laptop, it may be able to to force regeneration, its free for alot of functions or $50
for a full licence, look on ebay for the leads tho, as you need either 1 with a switch or the 3 coloured leads to be able to access abs, airbags, etc.
a normal KKL cable will do for engine.

Yep that should do it.
If you do have any connection problems with it, it may need a slight change to the can circuits in the interface(some do, most dont) its simple. all
information is here http://www.fiatecuscan.net/
Most likely the EGR valve - a very common fault. I have an Alfa GT with the same engine and the EGR solenoid can sieze.
There is a DIY fix...

my colleague had one of these go - the whole cylinder head cracked and the camshaft was wobbling about, not opening valves and causing a misfire. How it ran at all i don't know, but needless to say it was fubar.
Hi Coozer what car is it and what year 2004 - 5
If its a Vectra C then join the Vectra C forum and have a good read through the how 2 section
on the 2004 -5 year there was a problem with the tps motor electrics easy to repair
the other thing that goes wrong [ gets blocked is the EGR valve again you can do your self

Its a 56 plate Doblo with a 1.9JTD. 101K
Some muppet has been in the engine room and removed a few bolts and not put them back. The inlet elbow from the intercooler is held on with 1
bolt....
Just waiting for the ELM327 to arrive so I can see exactly whats happening.
