Is it feasible to replace the valve guides myself, if so how. What about hardened valve seats, possible or machine shop.Thought I would try

Two words, Machine Shop. You need the correct cutters etc which cost £1000's.
Valve guides are easy - they just press in and out. Changed them myself on a 12G295 head using a G cramp. I suspect doing valve seats is a whole different issue although one fell out on my old 850 mini. I changed the head for one from the scrappy.
From memory when fitting valve seats the head is heated up and the seats are cooled down, so you get a really tight fit. HTH Ray
Would leave both to a machine shop, take the opportunity to port the head using david Vizards Book and unleash more power. Due to the siamese ports the head is restrictive but can be made to flow freely. Ifitted a Metro 1300 head to my 1075 it was an Auto so had larger valves. Ported it had it skimmed. The car went like a scolded cat especially with the 1 1/2" SU free flowing filter and Kent cam in it
