I understand that an internal reverse-gear can be added to the BMW bike gearboxes (separate units), but I'm struggling to find a company to do
the biz.
From another forum...
... change the gear clusters and add an internal jack-gear. Essentially turning first gear into reverse with an electrical lockout on the shifting
cam to keep from accidentally shifting from second (now first) directly into reverse...
This company n Germany are apparently the specialists, but I can't get a reply from them
Can anyone recommend a company on these shores that would be up for this kind of job?
Cheers!
No knowledge what so ever from personal experience but I would start on a BMW bike forum and ask if any sidecar guys have done it.
In a thread at http://www.suckindiesel.com/thingy/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=270 by oilburner » Sat Sep 08, 2007 8:59 am "It's unfortunate
Wolfgang Kayser in Germany retired."
Possibly no-one took the company on.
Please let us know if you have any luck with this reverse gear project, I can think of some people who would be interested.

The gold Wing uses the starter mOtor. Have a look at how these work, it might be easy to modify the BMW to do the same.
