Fuel drain plug
flibble - 16/4/12 at 01:12 PM

Hi all,
Yesterday I decided to fix the leak around the fuel sender on my tank, this somehow turned into removing and cutting the tank apart, adding baffles and making a little sump for the fuel pump to sit in :
Now that it's all in bits and before I weld the sump on (mild steel tank) I thought it would be good to add a drain plug but am not sure what to weld in there that wont leak?
I thought welding a a stud joiner (long nut) in and just putting a normal bolt in there with a copper washer on, would that leak?
Is there an obvious drain plug thing that I've missed?
Cheers!

1/4 bsp half socket (cut a full socket in half)
and a 1/4 bspt hex head plug.

Fuel tank drain plugs tend to sieze in the threads , brass plug may be better?
