x flow engine fitting

A question for anyone with a x flow engine fitted in their car. How close is the bottom starter motor lug on the bellhousing to the chassis rail. Mine was about 12mm away but the engine mounts must have dropped (tired rubbers maybe) and it started to touch the rail. I have had to jack things up a bit to gain some clearance.

Mine is also very close,(Stuart Taylor chassis,)
I lifted my engine by fitting a spacer under the engine mount to gain clearence.
I also fitted the starter motor using allen bolts as I could not get a spanner on the bottom hex nut.
Regards Denis.

My xflow in a book built chassis, gap between the chassis and geabox by the stater, is about 8 mm
its never touched yet

Initially mine was ultra tight on trial fit into part built chassis, so I moved the rail slightly to improve clearance.

Was going to include a picture but it's pretty obsured by the exhaust

The first car we built, the starter had about 2mm clearance so on the second, we moved the chassis rail by 15mm to gain extra clearance.
The joys of hindsight

Mine has a pre engaged starter and has loads of clearance between the cable connection and the chassis
