Hi I have just fitted zx6r carbs to my crossflow .an just fired the engine up this morning but runs very rough the only thing i have done screwed the idle jets in an out 2/half turns this has helped still to balance them up as well . Has anyone ever done this on a crossflow it was just to some idea of main jets sizes any information on this would be very welcome cause I haven't a clue . Thanks
I have ZX6Rs on my Zetec 2.0 with 1.6mm mains.

Cheers stu seems a lot of you guys are running 1.6 jet sizes or anything from 1.3 to 1.7 /. 1.6 being the norm . The jets that are in just know outside ones are 1.4 the two insides are 1.5. So I was going to start there. Do you know how to check for lean fuel is it a case of checking the plug colour. Thanks for the reply.
The only safe way is to get it set up on a rolling road
I would start with 1.5 jets and work up
After drilling the jets get the carbs balanced and go from there

If its running rough the carbs probably need balancing. When mine are out of balance my zetec runs really rough, hunting and barking...

You are going to struggle tuning an engine, with a set of motorbike carbs, without any diagnostics available to you at all! There is no default jet size, needle position or idle mixture for any given engine. Everyone has a different air filter, exhaust and manifolds. I had to put a wideband on my car to get it running and then drive it, and tune it as I went.
Thanks guys all the info has been taken onboard .will have a go an let you know.
