Ford 2.3 Ecotec in a Locost or Custom??
BigDawgV8 - 23/7/12 at 08:08 PM

Hi All,

I heard about another possible engine option from a guy I met at work today.
I 'd be interested in your thought please.

He has got a Caterham with an American 2.3 litre Zetec, he called it an Ecotec? He claims to be getting 300 hp out of it!
Apparently it came out of a Ford Ranger/Explorer but he said they are also fitted into Transits?

Does anyone know anything about these? Are they worth considering for our cars?

you can buy one new in a crate from cosworth (I think they claim about 280hp) - but they are along long way from cheap

you'd probably be better off building a supercharged 2.0 duratec
like flak monkey on here did: (I think he found more than 260hp on the stock cams )
