Xflow Dipstick Tube
Alfa145 - 29/7/12 at 07:16 PM

Has anyone with a 711M 1600 Xflow got any pics of their Dip Stick tube?

I have something that resembles clear'ish garden hose, with a proper 711M dipstick in it but want to find a proper tube as this one seems to be leaking. But I don't know what a proper one looks like.

So any pics welcome (or if you have a tube knocking about you might consider flogging)

Will grab a photo of mine when I have a minute tomorrow.

I dont have a photo to hand, but mine is just a piece of rubber pipe, most likely a length of fuel pipe.

What did Ford use as standard, has it always been a piece of rubber piping?, just looks an odd thing for a large manufacturer to do.

` Got a spare one from a 711M 1100 xflow which looks identical to my 1300 one. May do for a 1600 but obviously you need the measurements of tube and dipstick to check.

Yes. Also had a bracket attached and bolted to the inlet manifold to hold it in the correct position.

ahh ok thanks, well in that case mine must be a standard one, as it has a metal insert at the top as well that the dipstick fits into tightly, unless that's been inserted by someone else...

Sounds like yours is original as mine also has a metal insert to grip the dipstick too, and I know mine was original as the rest of the donor car, 1300E, I had was untouched with only 38000 miles on it.

Mine has a metal insert in the top for the dip stick but it doesn't hold it tight. Perhaps mine is an original then....will grab a pic tonight for others opinions.
