Weber DCOE 151 pump jet leak
Westy1994 - 29/7/12 at 09:49 PM

Hi all,

My car has done this for years, but getting annoyed with it now and need to get it sorted out.

Fuel drips from just one pump jet nozzle when engine is stopped and no fuel pump running - still drips after an hour of it being run. Car runs fine and tick over is perfect, just need to get this leak sorted out as I hate wasting the fuel.

I have tried swapping the jets from one choke that does not leak and it still does the same thing, I don't mind getting a service kit, but would be nice to know why it's doing this in the first place.

Anyone had the same thing happen, and if so, how did you sort it?.

Cheers

Rich

Sounds odd... Could it be the float valve leaking and causing the fuel level to go too high?

Sounds feasible, but it's just one choke that it happens on. If it were a faulty float level, it would be leaking from both chokes on the same carb, sadly it's not. The fuel can be seen dripping from the brass jet that drops down inside the intake throat., similar to a dripping tap in your kitchen.

The last oil change I did, the oil was so thin and smelt very badly of petrol, now I know why.

I would have said float level too. As for dripping down from just one, well probably that just reflects that they are not perfectly level in-situ.

Again, I would have said possible, except the choke concerned is is not on either end and the manifold is a one piece affair that serves all chokes, if looking at the front of the engine cylinder 1 would be first, the leak is on cylinder 3.
